Armed forces Day

Wonderful events and activities at Whitby's Armed Forces Day,

Saturday 30th June, 10am – 4pm, on Dock End

We are delighted to confirm that one of the major attractions of this years Armed Forces Day event is a flypast of the Dakota 947, provided by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The RAF say "The Douglas C-47 Dakota is without doubt one of the most successful aircraft designs in history". The Dakota was involved in Para-dropping operations on the eve of D-Day and subsequently in re-supply and casualty evacuation missions into and out of airfields in the combat areas.

The Flypast will take place at 2.10pm on Saturday 30th and local young musicians will serenade the plane as it flies over Whitby. This will be a wonderful and emotional highlight of the day.

We are still looking for people willing to help out at Armed Forces Day so if you are available please do get in touch by email: deputy.clerk@whitbytowncouncil.gov.uk or by phone: 01947 820227.
