Whitby Christmas Festival
Whitby Town Council is delighted that the Christmas Festival and Market will go ahead this year on the Front Marina Car Park, Langbourne Road, Whitby, from today (Friday 18 November to Sunday 20 November 2022).
The centre point of Friday's launch is the switch on of our renewed Christmas Lighting display. These have been supplied by our contractor Blachere Illumination.
We are pleased that Blachere have installed 2D decorations equipped with a recycled and recyclable aluminium frame designed to support the structure and printed using wide-format printers in Bioprint or Recyprint. The brand new eco-responsible materials allow Blachere to remove more than 80% of aluminium from their 2D motifs, which has a substantial impact on the display's carbon footprint.
The lights use LED illumination which is also better for the environment and uses 90% less energy than traditional light bulbs.
The Christmas Lights will be switched on at 7pm on Friday
Local people will know that there have been repeated issues with the streetlights on New Quay Road. The county council is aware of problems with two columns, which are due to receive attention at the beginning of December. The Christmas lights on these columns draw on the same power.
On Saturday, the market runs from 10am to 8pm. At 7:45pm, we will launch a firework display from the east cliff, which will be viewable all around the harbourside.
The market continues on Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
