A Pudding Fit for a Queen
As the country comes together to celebrate The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, Whitby Town Council has been working with the Pannett Art Gallery, Whitby Museum and the Friends of Pannett Park to invent a perfect pudding, fit for a queen.
Whitby's Town Mayor, Councillor Linda Wild tested out some of the suggestions, before finally settling on crafting a unique jubilee cheesecake.

Reorganisation of local government in North Yorkshire
The Government has approved local government reorganisation in North Yorkshire which will lead to the county and district councils being replaced by one new unitary council, which will be called North Yorkshire Council.

Park And Ride Open for Half-Term
North Yorkshire County Council has announced that the Whitby Park and Ride site will open during the February half-term holiday. You can read more about this trial extension to the carpark's season in the county council's press release.

Christmas Greetings from Whitby Town Council

Temporary Closure of Pier Road public toilets
The Pier Road public toilets will be closed today for maintenance and deep cleaning.
The nearest toilets remain open at Market Place, West Cliff and New Quay Road.

Christmas Festival Cancelled
This weekend's Christmas Festival has been cancelled due to warnings of extreme weather.
Scarborough Borough Council, working with the emergency services, has advised Whitby Town Council that a severe weather warning has been issued for Friday and Saturday, which make the continuation of the Festival Market and entertainment impossible. Consultation on the future Cemeteries provision across the Borough
Based on current burial rates and number of available burials plots, it is estimated that the three cemeteries sites across the Borough Larpool cemetery in Whitby, Woodlands cemetery in Scarborough and Lawns cemetery in Filey will reach full capacity in the next four to six years.
